I used a program called Virtual Serial Port Driver 6.0 to create a pair of virtual serial ports on the host (com2 and com3). i added a serial port to the guest VM and set it to use COM2. when i start my virtual machine, i get a message saying that it couldnt connect because access is denied.Go to menu -> Find -> “Find Handle or DLL…” and type in the string “ProlificSerial” and click Search. That should show any applications that explicitly have the USB serial port open. If you have a chance to check that and see if any applications come up, that could provide a clue ….
